Fold's Bitcoin Gift Card is now live on TikTok Shop in denominations from $25 to $500 — dropping a bitcoin on-ramp into the impulse-buy feed of the platform's largely Gen Z and Millennial shoppers.

Bitcoin can now be bought where Gen Z already shops. Fold's Bitcoin Gift Card went live on TikTok Shop this week, UseTheBitcoin reported Friday, in denominations from $25 to $500 — the same checkout flow as a phone case or a water bottle, ending in a code that redeems for bitcoin in Fold's app.
The mechanics are deliberately boring. Buy the card, redeem the code, and the dollar value converts to bitcoin —
sats, at today's prices — in a custodial wallet inside Fold's app. No exchange account, no bank linkage at purchase, no order book. That's the point: the product removes every step that makes a first bitcoin purchase feel like opening a brokerage account.
Distribution is the story. TikTok Shop's audience skews young and buys on impulse; putting a $25 bitcoin card in that feed reaches people no
exchange onboarding funnel ever will. It follows a familiar retail playbook — prepaid cards conquered the drugstore rack long before banking apps existed — and it arrives, notably, in a week when the price action has been
anything but a sales pitch.
The caveats belong in the same breath. Gift-card bitcoin usually costs more all-in than an exchange purchase once fees and redemption spreads are counted, and the redeemed coins sit in a wallet whose keys Fold holds. For a $25 curiosity that's fine; for anything more, the standard advice applies — compare the all-in price, and learn
what self-custody means before the balance grows.

WHY IT MATTERS
Every prior adoption wave rode an interface change — exchanges, then payment apps, then ETFs for brokerage accounts. A gift card in a social-commerce feed is the first on-ramp aimed at people who don't think of themselves as investors at all. Whether it converts curiosity into holders depends on what happens after redemption — which is why the custody fine print matters more than the headline.
What to watch next
1.Whether the listing sticks. TikTok Shop moderates financial products aggressively; a quiet delisting would say as much as the launch.
2.Copycats. If the card sells, expect other on-ramp brands on social commerce shelves by the holidays — gift cards are a seasonal product.
3.Redemption behavior. The adoption signal isn't cards sold — it's how many redeemed balances later move to wallets their owners control.
