Bybit Review (2026): Cheap and Deep, With an Asterisk

BY THE BITCOIN ALMANACK TEAM·UPDATED JUL 2026·9 MIN READ·● BTC {{ price }}·CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS
OUR VERDICT DERIVATIVES DEPTH 7.8/10
Bybit offers 0.10% spot fees, strong liquidity, and a capable app — and it survived the largest exchange hack in history (Feb 2025, ~$1.5B) with client funds made whole within weeks. That recovery was impressive; the breach still belongs in any honest review. For spot buyers there are safer defaults at the same price.
WHAT WE LIKED
+0.10% spot fees with frequent promos
+Deep liquidity, especially in Asia hours
+Handled the 2025 hack transparently — clients kept whole
+Fast, capable app for active users
WHAT WE DIDN'T
Feb 2025 hack was the largest in exchange history
Derivatives-first culture; spot is the side dish
Availability varies; no US service

The hack, and the recovery

In February 2025 attackers drained roughly $1.5B from a Bybit cold-wallet transfer — the largest crypto theft on record. Bybit covered client balances from reserves and partner loans, kept withdrawals open, and published a full post-mortem. Full marks for the response; the architecture that allowed it is why we score security conservatively.

What it does well

Spot fees match Binance, execution is fast, and the app is genuinely good. If you're an active trader in a supported region, the product competes at the top tier.

Our recommendation for stackers

For plain recurring bitcoin buys, the hack history tips us toward Binance or OKX at identical cost. If you do use Bybit: buy, withdraw to self-custody, repeat.
Use it if…
You're an active trader in a supported region who values execution speed and promos.
Skip it if…
You're a buy-and-hold stacker — identical fees exist without the breach history.

Common questions

Did Bybit customers lose money in the 2025 hack?

No — Bybit covered the ~$1.5B from its own reserves and emergency liquidity, and withdrawals never formally halted. Client balances were made whole.

Is Bybit available in the US or UK?

No US service; UK and EU availability has narrowed under local rules. Check your jurisdiction before funding.

Is Bybit good for beginners?

Not especially — the platform is built around derivatives. Beginners are better served by OKX's app or a domestic regulated exchange.
